Ik was laatst op de Rootsdag georganiseerd door Radio Mart en hoorde Verno Romney een gedicht voordragen. Dit gedicht sloot helemaal aan bij het thema van de avond. Ik vond het erg mooi en vroeg hem of ik het op mijn weblog mocht plaatsen. Onderstaand het gedicht, geniet ervan, geef het door en steun Verno.
They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree
And the fallen apple eventually becomes a seed
The seed grows up becomes a tree
Which then sees their apple leave
In time you’ll have a row of trees
Which we then call family
A family tree yes that in deed
From seed to seed to seed to seed
An apple falls, a bird flies by
and takes the apple high in the sky
He eats the apple as time flies by
and drops the seed beyond the eye
Now this seed is alone
In a place that’s not it’s home
Knows no better so gives his own
permission and says “Here I’ll grow”
To a tree who’ll be,
just you wait and see.
